Are you the owner of a small or medium sized business and tired of your health insurance premium going up every year? Outside of wages, health insurance premium has got to be one of your business’s largest expenses. Am I right?
I’ve been helping companies manage their health insurance plans for the past 19 years and I’ve always liked to use a real estate analogy when talking about health insurance. Most businesses are RENTING their health insurance plan not realizing that OWNING their own health insurance plan is a much better way to go.
When I was first married I rented an apartment and it was great! I paid my landlord the rent each month and if anything wasn’t working in the house, he would take care of it! I had no problem with renting, until my lease came due. My landlord had increased my rent! He didn’t give me any explanation for the increase. I either had to pay higher rents or move!
After a few years of this, I was done! I decided to go and buy a home. After I bought my first home, I learned that it was a much more stable situation. My mortgage was guaranteed to stay the same for the next 30 years. Utilities would go up and down, but I now had control over these costs. In the end, I pay much less to own my home than I would if I was still renting.
The same is true with health insurance!
When you Own Your Own Health Plan, you will have:
- Complete transparency so you know exactly where all your money is going
- Control over how the plan is built and how it works
- Creativity to drive costs down and enhance the experience your employees have with the plan
- And most importantly – lower costs, which is the whole point to all of this.
